Overview

James has a broad commercial dispute resolution practice. He has experience across a wide range of areas including contracts, construction and infrastructure, joint venture disputes, consumer and competition law, and professional negligence. Called to the Bar in 2007, James has acted in a range of courts, arbitral bodies, expert determinations, commissions of inquiry, administrative tribunals, and in mediations.

On completing undergraduate degrees in economics and law, James worked as an economist with the Reserve Bank of Australia in Sydney. In 1999 he joined Blake Dawson Waldron (now Ashurst Australia) in Sydney, specialising in commercial matters and competition law. He later undertook postgraduate study at the University of Oxford and was called to the Bar in 2007.
